Farewell To My Blog, But Not To Technology

Image
It was a good run, I learned many things from this class and tasks I did, or should I say, I created? The syllabus was pushing my creativity at all times. Much more than the last year's equivalent of this course. The process was hard at times, although rather rewarding when you completed and submitted your activity, even commentated on by the instructor later on, which is a unique feeling. My favorite task was preparing the material about the Flipped Classrooms (FC). I see FC as an entirely new platform where I can use what I learned about the innovative side of the ELT this/last year.  My least favorite task is preparing an activity for the Corpus method, I think this method can be fruitful when used with supportive elements like designing quizzes, and jigsaw puzzles about the corpora material students engaged with. However, I don't think it would stand alone in the class as a platform like FC. I think taking this course is a must if the teacher candidates want to be competi...

Using Generative AI for Task Creation

Image
Today I am going to share my experiences about using creative AI for preparing a task for my future students. In this task as always, we used Canva . Also, we learned about Canvas Generative AI tools .  We created a photo about our subject and then made our future students brainstorm and reflect on their thoughts of the image that was generated by the AI. The image of Muhammed Ali we created with the Generative AI After they discussed, we wanted to reveal that the photo was designed by the AI, and finally, we asked them to create their own images. Also, we gave them more generative AI tools for their task.  In the end, they compared their images to each other, hopefully enjoying the process of using the AI themselves. Thanks to my pair Toprak Kişioğlu for assisting me in this task.

Artificial/Virtual Reality Material Preparing Experience

Image
Preparing material for this concept was quite strange. Because it felt like preparing material for the school trip. Maybe it is a kind of a school trip but in the digital environment. Once again, our main tool was Canva , it is like the glue for using different tools at once We used 360-degree videos from   YouTube . They were recorded in historical places of Rome for our artificial trip (we also used a 3D model). Then we reinforced our material with the questions that related to these places and what students experienced during their digital visit.  Before giving the homework, we briefly mentioned the history of pizza and used a 3D model of pizza slice . our homework, which is about their experiences with AR trip It was a very interesting experience, and the material we prepared can be used in the Flipped Classrooms  (click if you want to read my experiences with the Flipped Classrooms).
